The pupils’ cosmic awareness formed the basis of this commission,
which also had to be stimulating and dynamic for children of all ages.
The three works were especially made for the lower, middle and upper levels,
and are situated on each of the building’s three floors.
The artworks are constructed out of a number of identical modules, which
are also alike in terms of design and controls.
Different artworks can be created by combining the modules in different
configurations and by varying the contents.
The artworks are made of plastic. The round, red and green transparent
forms are illuminated by LEDs, and they react when the square sensors
are touched. A speaker is situated in the centre of each round form.

Artwork A: One Question, Three
Answers
(upper level)
Children can select various questions by means of a dial. These are the
kind of questions that can be asked by children of all ages. Each question
has three answers, which can be heard on three different listening surfaces.
The levels of answers vary, and consist of the answer of a child, an adult
and an expert. This work concerns the way in which the world is constantly
being explained in a different way, as based on this three-part structure.
There is more than one reality!
12 x 12 words can be combined.
What does a horse in a jam pot sound like? Or a horse on a cloud? Children
can create and check out these combinations by means of two dials. There
are 144 possible combinations.

C: Sound Story in Three Parts
(lower level)
This work can be read from left to right just like a comic, and consists
of three ‘listening elements’. These can be activated and
listened to by means of a fixed control structure. For instance, at the
first element you will hear the sound of a cat meowing and at the next
one a dog barking. The last element consists of the sound of a fight between
a dog and a cat.
This work contains approximately 60 stories.
